About The Company:
Successful Partnership Through Two Generations
It's all in the family at Metro Karges -- two families that is. After all, Dave Decker and Rick Shantz, partners in this Kitchener appliance centre, are just continuing today what they grew up learning from their fathers. It's a formula that includes superior customer service, great quality products, and a store that area residents keep coming back to generation after generation. Here's a brief history ..
The business began in 1935 under the ownership of Clayt Karges. He died in 1951, and in 1952 Glenn Decker and Earl Shantz - Dave and Rick's fathers, purchased the business from his estate. In 1979, the two sons bought the business from their fathers and continue to run it as a partnership today.
Personalized service is what sets their business apart from other appliance retailers, explains Decker. Staff turnover is very low, he says, resulting in an extremely knowledgeable team. "From a sales point of view, a person can get really good advice and recommendations, not just a pitch on the product". By this he means that his staff will not use pressure
sales, but instead will ask questions about the customer's lifestyle and needs in order to advise and recommend an appropriate product.
And the service doesn't stop once the sale is complete. Because the customer has entered into a trustworthy agreement with us, we feel we have an obligation to that customer, he says. That obligation extends from delivery of the new purchase right through the life of the machine.
This type of service has kept generations of local families coming back for more over the years.
